Geranium- Copenhagen, Denmark

The second best restaurant in the world can also be found in the center of the Danish metropolis Copenhagen. A special location – the Geranium is on the 8th floor of Parken Stadium, home of 1. FC Copenhagen and the Danish national team.

During culinary performances by chef Rasmus Kofoed, guests can enjoy a view over the treetops of the adjacent park, the green copper roofs of Copenhagen and the windmills of Öresund through floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Kofoed’s menus are primarily characterized by a variety of small, detailed dishes. For the lucky ones who were able to get hold of a table reservation, the menu also costs around €380.

Asador Etxebarri- Axpe, Spain

At first glance, it seems unlikely that an asador, i.e. a restaurant where all dishes are prepared on the grill, is one of the leading global gastronomic temples. Victor Arguinzoniz, owner and head chef in one, has nevertheless put himself on the world map of gourmets with his Asador Etxebarri in the Spanish Basque country.

As a master of fire, a unique haute cuisine experience is created using ancient techniques. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert, Arguinzoniz’s plates achieve their cooking perfection thanks to a pulley system he invented himself, which allows the height of the grill to be optimally varied. This special culinary experience in the north of Spain can be had for as little as €209 per menu.

Central- Lima, Peru

Peruvian cuisine has long been one of the best we can find on the world’s menu. No wonder, then, that a restaurant from the capital Lima can also be found on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The Central restaurant, run by the chef couple Virgilio Martínez and Pía León, embodies an ode to Peru with their dishes.

From scallops and squid from the waters of Peru to belly pork from the Sacred Valley, their plates celebrate Peruvian traditions with the contemporary zeitgeist. Just marveling at the restaurant’s own vegetable garden could justify a visit to the Central. There you can discover over 100 types of plants, which always find their way onto the couple’s creative plate compositions. The menu price in the Central is around €100-120.
