The Christmas feeling is already being felt and all road leads to Nyankrom, a community in the Shama District of the Western Region of Ghana.
The Queen mother of Nyankrom, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II who also doubles as the acting Queen mother for Shama Traditional Area, Nyancity Events Consult and elders of Nyankrom on Thursday December 15, 2022 launched the second edition of Nyankrom Buronya at the Nyankrom community park with the theme “Unity for Strategic Development.
This year’s events promises to be exciting and fan-packed as it commences from December 17, 2022 to January 8, 2023. In attendance were Nana Kwamena Dekyi I (Guantuahene of Shama Traditional Area), Representative for the Western Regional Minister, Hon Ebenezer Dadzie (DCE, Shama District Assembly), Chiefs, Queen Mothers, reps for companies and politicians.
Nyankrom Buronya is an initiative of Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II and the Youth Leadership of Nyankrom (Nyancity Events Consult) to foster unity among community members and push for development.
In a speech delivered by the Queen Mother, she called all and sandry to come on board to develop the community. She reiterated that her desire is to see Nyankrom on the world map through entertainment.
The Queen Mother called on government to fix the deplorable road network of the community and also complete a CHIP Compound started by the community.
She reiterated that she want to position the community as a national destination for Christmas.
The District Chief Executive for Shama District Assembly, Hon Ebenezer Dadzie supported the event with GH¢2,000 and called on all Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP government for more developmental projects in the District.
The chairman for the program, Nana Kwamena Dekyi I, expressed his joy for the Queen Mother’s initiative to unite community members through entertainment. He noted that a community can only develop when they are united. The organisers of the event have decided to construct a modern toilet after the celebration and in that regard, Nana Kwamena Dekyi I, pledged to construct that facility and supported the program with GH¢10,000.00.
Kobina studios, a young talented designer presented a citation to Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba for her selfless service to Nyankrom and Shama Traditional Area.
Representing the Regional Minister, Ebenezer Quainor said the Regional Minister is on a mission to develop the Region through entertainment and tourism. He said the Christmas in the City project is designed to draw investors into the region.
He urged community members of Nyankrom to own the evolution of the Nyankrom Buronya initiative and spearhead the effect of the entertainment and tourism business.
The chairman together with other dignitaries officially launched the 2nd edition of Nyankrom Buronya buy unavailing the “Buronya pata” which had assorted drinks in it.
Volta River Authority (VRA), Zeal Environmental Technologies, Let Everyone Smile Foundation, some staff of Shama District Assembly and reps of Hon Emelia Arthur(former Deputy Western Regional Minister) were all present to support the program.
